dubai aquarium and underwater zoo

Day: Saturday
Date:6 October 2012
Time: 11am

At first I thought that we got HSBC voucher to enter this Aquarium, but I have confused it with the The Lost Chamber @ The Palm. Thus, we have to pay from the pocket for 2 adults ticket. I wanted to buy the Ultimate Aquarium Package, but children under 3 years old are not allowed on the boat. We have a 22-months old baby with us, so we bought the Diamond Aquarium Package.

Here are the type of package entrance fee you can choose from.

Platinum Aquarium Package     (75 Dirham)
        Aquarium Tunnel
        Underwater Zoo
        Behind The Scenes Tour
Aquarium Gift Shop Voucher (10 dirham)

Aquarium Gift Shop Voucher (20 Dirham)

There are also snorkeling and diving activities with different fee and need at least 1 day reservation.

This aquarium and underwater zoo located in Dubai Mall (Level G-aquarium tunnel, Level2- underwater zoo). The 10-million liter tank (51 metres in length, 20 metres in depth and 11 metres in height) and recorded in the Guiness Book of World as the largest suspended aquarium in the world.

1)Public can view part of the aquarium for free  from level G to level 2 .

The view from free area at level G (can see the reflection of ALDO shop)

2) Walking through the tunnel, we can see the view from the below surface of tank. We can see more fishes than what we can see from the free panel. A lot of tiger sharks!!

3) Walking out the tunnel, we  went to the underwater zoo at level 2 where were brought to "behind the scene area" and feed the fish. Behind the scene area are the place where they prepare the food for the animals, give treatment to the animals and quarantine the new-coming animals before being put in the aquarium.

4) Then we continue to visit the other creatures at the underwater zoo. Apart from fishes, there are also penguins, otter, crocodiles, crabs, sea horse, jelly fishes, snakes, iguana, gecko, coackroaches, other insects.

Before going home we stop by the aquarium store to buy some souvenirs. Overall, I would say this aquarium more or less like aquaria in KLCC, Malaysia. Nonetheless, each of them have their own specialty and worth to visit. :)

  1. Nice post! The details of the Underwater Zoo & the Lost Chambers Aquarium Dubai that you shared in your blog look interesting. I never visited Dubai but after coming across your blog, it feels as if I should get a visa for Dubai and explore the many attractions that the ultramodern city has to offer. I also heard that Dubai has some of the best restaurants in the world. So, I will visit a few of them to satisfy my taste buds too.
